The Alison Grant THTA Scholarship

Each year, The Tasmanian History Teachers’ Association (THTA) will offer one scholarship for pre-service or qualified teachers who are currently studying/teaching in the field of History to attend the National HTAA conference.

The Alison Grant THTA Scholarship is for teachers who wish to further their knowledge and skills in History teaching and are willing to make a commitment to future THTA events and activities. Each scholarship covers full registration (worth $600) to the conference and $1000 towards travel expenses.

Announcement for 2026

No Alison Grant Scholarship will be available in 2026, as the Conference is being held in Queensland and it is during the final week of Term 3, not during Tasmania’s school holidays.

However, additional scholarships will be available in 2027, when THTA hosts the HTAA National Conference in Hobart, from September 28-30, at Wrest Point and Port Arthur. It is designed to offer an experience of history as well as workshops on content, curriculum and pedagogy.

The THTA organising committee would love to see as many Tasmanian history teachers as possible attend. The Scholarship covers conference registration and accommodation costs (if you are residing outside the greater Hobart area).

Note: The recipient in 2025 was Claire Bugg.

More information will be made available at the beginning of 2027.
